Agenda 2030 establishes 17 Goals which are universally applicable for all countries of the world. It can be argued that the SDGs represent the most progressive global agenda ever agreed upon by all the nations of the world. It is clear that there is an important role for higher education institutions to play in addressing SDGS. Budd Hall will make the argument that among the contributions that Universities may make, that a critical contribution involves thinking about knowledge, how knowledge is constructed and by whom. Hall builds on an emerging discourse of knowledge democracy, ideas influenced by Fals Borda, de Sousa Santos, Tandon, Tuhuwei-Smith, Davies and Gaventa.
