We bring outstanding researchers together with community partners to co-create knowledge for action \u2013knowledge that is mobilized to improve the social, cultural and economic well-being of communities throughout our region and around the globe. Here\u2019s a look at some of our projects with community partners in 2014.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00c0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Victoria, l\u2019unit\u00e9 Partenariats en recherche et Mobilisation des connaissances (Research Partnerships and Knowledge Mobilization unit, RPKM) est un portail ouvert aux gens du campus et de la communaut\u00e9, destin\u00e9 \u00e0 soutenir et \u00e0 renforcer la recherche transformatrice. Nous r\u00e9unissons des chercheurs exceptionnels et des partenaires de la communaut\u00e9 afin qu\u2019ils cr\u00e9ent ensemble un savoir en action \u2013 un savoir mobilis\u00e9 dans le but d\u2019am\u00e9liorer le bien-\u00eatre social, culturel et \u00e9conomique des collectivit\u00e9s de notre r\u00e9gion et du monde entier. Voici quelques-uns des projets en cours en 2014.<\/em><br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8150\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8150\" style=\"width: 675px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/researchimpact.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Preserving-the-past-at-UVic.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8150 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/researchimpact.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Preserving-the-past-at-UVic.png\" alt=\"Preserving the past at UVic\" width=\"675\" height=\"372\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8150\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Historic charge books are returned to police headquarters after being digitized at UVic<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\n<strong>19th century police charge books offer rare glimpse into Victoria\u2019s past.<\/strong><br \/>\nImagine a world where you could be criminally charged for merely looking suspicious, or speeding down the road on a horse. This was reality for Victorians living in the 1870s. Thanks to a unique collaboration between the University of Victoria, the Victoria Genealogical Society and the Victoria Police Historical Society, these historical accounts of local law enforcement are being preserved for future generations.<br \/>\nPartnering to preserve a piece of the city\u2019s history, five 19th century charge books from the Victoria Police Department were loaned to the University of Victoria Library\u2019s digitization unit. There, over 2,000 handwritten entries in the charge books were digitized and archived, many of which contain detailed, first-hand accounts of what life was like in Victoria nearly 150 years ago.<br \/>\nThrough proper documentation and preservation, these entries will help us gain insight into an important chapter in Victoria\u2019s history.<br \/>\nFor more information, click <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/1vm16a0\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the University of Victoria, the Research Partnerships and Knowledge Mobilization unit (RPKM) is a campus and community-wide portal to support the development of transformative research.
