{"id":12122,"date":"2015-06-04T12:41:22","date_gmt":"2015-06-04T16:41:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/researchimpact.ydsinc.ca\/post-cards-from-congress-day-6-3\/"},"modified":"2021-11-23T16:59:02","modified_gmt":"2021-11-23T21:59:02","slug":"post-cards-from-congress-day-6-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/researchimpact.ca\/fr\/archive\/post-cards-from-congress-day-6-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Post Cards from Congress &#8211; Day 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oh The Places You Will Go<br \/>\nIt&rsquo;s not the first time we&rsquo;ve borrowed from Dr. Seuss.\u00a0 As Congress is winding down and there are some quieter moments for reflection, it is nice to look back on the week that was and this eighth year for RIR at Congress which is soon to pass.<br \/>\nThis year, Congress was in Ottawa.\u00a0 O-Town (the city, not the boy band) has been a wonderful place to meet with academics, colleagues and interested parties in knowledge mobilization.\u00a0 And to the University of Ottawa, you have opened yourself up to over 8000 academics and showed yourself very well.\u00a0 This is my first visit to U of O and I&rsquo;ve enjoyed the experience.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8060\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8060\" style=\"width: 220px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/researchimpact.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/oh-the-places-youll-go.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8060\" src=\"https:\/\/researchimpact.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/oh-the-places-youll-go-220x300.jpg\" alt=\"Let again, we site the insightful Dr. Seuss in our work in knowledge mobilization\" width=\"220\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8060\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Yet again, we site the insightful Dr. Seuss in our work in knowledge mobilization<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nNext year, Congress will be at the University of Calgary.\u00a0 The city and the university help to shape and define Congress in a very important way.\u00a0 I&rsquo;ve attended the past eight in whole or in part.\u00a0 All have some memorable moments, both within and beyond the workday.<br \/>\nCongress is an important place for RIR to showcase our strengths and leadership in knowledge mobilization across the country.\u00a0 I recall that first year at University of Saskatchewan where it was just York University and the University of Victoria and we were so new in this work.\u00a0 The tone and breadth of conversation has changed over the years and the leadership which SSHRC and CIHR have demonstrated to KMb (and KT) has been very enabling for our work.\u00a0 RIR members have also had chances to showcase themselves.\u00a0 In addition to University of Saskatchewan, Congress has taken place at University of Victoria, Carleton and at Laurier over my tenure as a knowledge broker.<br \/>\nThis year, RIR enjoyed rich conversations with Mitacs, SSHRC, Research Matters\u00a0 and The Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences.\u00a0 We had our usual inquiries about our work, some academics from partner institutions who took business cards of their broker colleagues and some international interests from Africa.\u00a0 I look forward to some worthwhile follow up.<br \/>\nCongress is unique each and every year.\u00a0 As Dr. Seuss so aptly penned, Oh The Places You Will Go.\u00a0 Yes indeed, see you next year in Calgary!<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oh The Places You Will Go It&rsquo;s not the first time we&rsquo;ve borrowed from Dr. Seuss.\u00a0 As Congress is winding down and there are some quieter moments for reflection, it is nice to look back on the week that was and this eighth year for RIR at Congress which is soon to pass.
