We are pleased to post the reflections of our students on their time with us.<\/em><br \/>\n<i>Le 28 ao\u00fbt dernier, nous disions au revoir \u00e0 quelques-uns des \u00e9tudiants qui ont jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le majeur dans notre \u00e9quipe en nous permettant d\u2019offrir des services de mobilisation des connaissances sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s. Nous publions ici quelques-unes des r\u00e9flexions que leur a inspir\u00e9es leur s\u00e9jour parmi nous.<\/i><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/researchimpact.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Hilda-Smith.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7905\" src=\"https:\/\/researchimpact.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Hilda-Smith.jpg\" alt=\"Hilda Smith\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Name: Hilda Smith<br \/>\nDegree: Masters of Arts<br \/>\nWork at the KMb Unit: Almost two years as Research Translation Assistant<br \/>\nWhat\u2019s Next: PhD in Critical Disabilities, York University, emphasis on KMb processes; September 2014<br \/>\nI became interested in knowledge mobilization because I thought it would be a great place to explore my passion for making information accessible.\u00a0 I found so much more once I started working the field.<br \/>\nAs a knowledge translator most of my work was writing 2-page clear language summaries for published academic articles.\u00a0 This position allowed me to work with NeuroDevNet\u2019s (NDN) Knowledge Translation Core, which exposed me to other ways of sharing information.\u00a0 (Anneliese, the KT manager for NeuroDevNet, is amazing with videos).\u00a0 As well, working with a variety of researchers with ResearchImpact and the KMb Unit really made me realize how far reaching KMb is.\u00a0 It also exposed me to the types of impacts knowledge mobilization can have!\u00a0 How KMb affects research, researchers, and communities. These experiences have changed me in a great way.<br \/>\nThese experiences have had a major impact on where my future research will go.\u00a0 Having just finished my masters, dealing with how communities influence theory development, I\u2019m eager to expand on this topic in my PhD.\u00a0 Having a better understanding of KMb I plan to make it a central theme in my PhD research.\u00a0 The project will have two objectives.\u00a0 One will focus on what role communities have in sharing research knowledge and how to evaluate the impact this form of knowledge mobilization has.\u00a0 The other will be to better understand how KMb works with community groups who have information to share; whether that is their own, something that was co-produced, or something that they received from a researcher.<br \/>\nI look back at my time working with ResearchImpact, the KMb Unit and NeuroDevNet with fond memories.\u00a0 I\u2019m so happy to have met the wonderful people in these organizations, who were great at answering questions and helping me learn about the knowledge mobilization field.\u00a0 I\u2019ll be pleased to find new ways to collaborate with these colleagues as I move forward in my PhD.<br \/>\nThanks for you all for your help and support!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On August 28, 2014, we bid farewell to some of the students who have been instrumental in helping York\u2019s Knowledge Mobilization Unit deliver expert knowledge mobilization services.
