We are pleased to let you know that David Phipps (RIR-York) was among the\u00a0recipients!<\/em><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-5597\" style=\"margin:5px;\" alt=\"David Phipps at the Diamond Jubilee ceremony\" src=\"http:\/\/researchimpact.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/12\/david-phipps-diamond-jubilee.jpg?w=225\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" \/><br \/>\nThe medals, which are awarded to individuals in tribute to their achievements and significant contributions to Canada, are part of a global celebration of the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s accession to the throne.\u00a0David received his medal in connection to Mitacs, a national research\u00a0organization offering research and training programs to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows\u00a0in Canada. He received his medal at a special ceremony held late last month in Ottawa, Ontario.<br \/>\nAs the executive director of Research &amp; Innovation Services at York University, David manages all research grants and contracts including knowledge and technology transfer. \u00a0He was recognized with the Queen\u2019s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his work in knowledge mobilization.\u00a0In 2011, he was named the most influential knowledge mobilizer in Canada and in 2012\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/research\/innovation\/knowledgemobilization\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">York\u2019s Knowledge Mobilization Unit<\/a>\u00a0was awarded a best practice award from the European-based Knowledge Economy Network.<br \/>\nDavid leads York\u2019s award-winning Knowledge Mobilization Unit that provides services to researchers, community organizations and government agencies\u00a0that wish to use research to inform public policy and professional practice.
