Findings of the research will help inform the planning and delivery of UWYR Strength Investments within communities of rapid growth. UWYR Priorities (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.uwyr.on.ca\/addressingourstrengths\/\">www.uwyr.on.ca\/addressingourstrengths<\/a>):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Helping youth grow up strong<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Enabling individuals and families to achieve economic independence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Improving the well being of individuals and communities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Term of Internship:<\/strong> May 3 \u2013 August 27, 2010<br \/>\n<strong>Report to:<\/strong> Director, Community Investment, UWYR<br \/>\n<strong>Roles and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Undertake a literature review focusing on the impact of growth and change on human services and various responses to address the impact.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct social asset mapping in identified geographies of growth in York Region.<\/li>\n<li>Organize community consultation and engagement activities with residents, community groups, service providers and other key stakeholders to identify, develop and ascertain strategies for UWYR Strength Investments.<\/li>\n<li>Analyze research findings and develop reports.<\/li>\n<li>Present reports to Community Engagement and Research Committee<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong> Qualifications and Requirements:<\/strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/researchimpact.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/09\/united-way-of-york-region.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1003 alignright\" title=\"United Way of York Region\" src=\"http:\/\/researchimpact.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/09\/united-way-of-york-region.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"69\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Currently affiliated with Faculty of Graduate Studies, may have finished degree requirements but not yet graduated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Legally entitled to work in Canada<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Available to work full-time during the months of May to August 2010<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Intern will receive relevant training and support through the Knowledge Mobilization Unit of York University and be part of knowledge mobilization community peer to peer network<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Expertise in immigration &amp; settlement, GIS, urban planning, program evaluation, human services, policy research &amp; development or related disciplines an asset<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Internship Stipend:<\/strong> $10,000 paid $2500 per month at the end of each month May-August 2010<br \/>\nInterested candidates should submit a r\u00e9sum\u00e9 and cover letter describing the relationship between the applicant\u2019s graduate studies and the interests of the United Way of York Region and how the applicant\u2019s research expertise will contribute to a successfully executed internship.
