One grant partners York University\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/lamarsh\/index.php\">Lamarsh Centre for Research on Violence and Conflict Resolution<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kinark.on.ca\/\">Kinark Child and Family Services<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yorkcas.org\/\">York Region Children\u2019s Aid Society<\/a>. David Phipps from ResearchImpact (York University) and Sandra Cunning (Clinical Director, Research &amp; Evaluation, Kinark Child and Family Services), along with researchers from the Lamarsh Centre were co-investigators on the application. We were awarded $39,950 for a grant titled \u201cUsing social networking to enable KT collaboration and dissemination\u00a0\u00bb.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/researchimpact.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/01\/sandra-cunning-pic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1453\" style=\"margin:5px;\" title=\"Sandra Cunning\" src=\"http:\/\/researchimpact.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/01\/sandra-cunning-pic.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"144\" \/><\/a>The grant will use the Kinark\/Lamarsh\/CAS partnership project on teen pregnancy and teen mothers in York Region to pilot social media tools provided by O3 (see our blog on <a href=\"http:\/\/researchimpact.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/13\/still-an-overall-outstanding-opportunity-%E2%80%93-now-everyone-knows-it\/\">October 13<\/a>) as a tool for collaboration and dissemination. Based on learnings in this pilot initiative, York\u2019s KM Unit will roll out these social media support services to other large-scale research and KM projects. The grant was ranked first in Canada in this competition. One reviewer commented, \u201cRationale very strong for need to share knowledge regarding available tools, particularly given the IT interests of the next generation.\u201d<br \/>\nWe are looking forward to working with our partners in York Region to use these tools to increase the sharing of research information to help our partners make informed decisions.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/researchimpact.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/09\/united-way-of-york-region.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1003\" style=\"margin:5px;\" title=\"United Way of York Region\" src=\"http:\/\/researchimpact.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/09\/united-way-of-york-region.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"91\" height=\"69\" \/><\/a>David Phipps and Daniele Zanotti, CEO of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uwyr.on.ca\/\">United Way of York Region<\/a>, were also awarded $14,979 for an events grant titled, \u201cMobilizing the Best Practices of Institutional KT Services for Health and Society.\u201d  Through this grant, ResearchImpact partner universities and their local United Ways in St. John\u2019s, Montreal, Saskatoon, and Victoria will meet with York and the United Way of York Region to learn from each others\u2019 best practices in KM. \u201cIt is important that community agencies are working from the best knowledge available so that they can make well-informed decisions,\u201d says Daniele. <a href=\"http:\/\/researchimpact.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/daniele.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1086 alignleft\" style=\"margin:5px;\" title=\"Daniele Zanotti\" src=\"http:\/\/researchimpact.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/daniele.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"113\" height=\"130\" \/><\/a>\u201cYork\u2019s Knowledge Mobilization Unit provides an avenue for community organizations to tap into the research expertise available in the University.
