{"id":12656,"date":"2008-06-06T10:24:05","date_gmt":"2008-06-06T14:24:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/researchimpact.ydsinc.ca\/meet-the-mobilizer-david-phipps-york-university\/"},"modified":"2021-11-23T09:52:43","modified_gmt":"2021-11-23T14:52:43","slug":"meet-the-mobilizer-david-phipps-york-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/researchimpact.ca\/fr\/archive\/meet-the-mobilizer-david-phipps-york-university\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet a Mobilizer \u2013 David Phipps, York University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin:0;\"><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin:0;\"><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><span style=\"font-family:Verdana;\">David never wanted to be a knowledge broker.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>David wanted to be a veterinarian but along the way discovered research (PhD Immunology, Queen\u2019s University, 1991) and subsequently moved into technology transfer at U of T when he identified a novel marker of HIV infection.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Moving from doing research to managing research started a career that continually spanned the boundaries between researchers and research users (companies, government agencies, community organizations).<span>\u00a0 <\/span>By connecting researchers with researcher users to help move research into practice or policy, David became a knowledge broker.
