Research Impact Canada is a member of Community-Based Research Canada, a national non-profit that promotes excellence in community-engaged research that drives positive social change? As a member, everyone within our institution (students, staff, faculty, etc) has access to member benefits, including E-Learning events and a community of practice for those engaged in community research.
CBRCanada’s Community-Based Research Summer Institute, “Addressing Societal Issues Through Community-Based Approaches to Research,” is a five-day interactive training designed for students, post-docs, and recent graduates. Participants will learn and practice a participatory, community-driven, and action-oriented research approach. This training is ideal for those who want to engage community partners in collaborative research that contributes to positive social change.
WHEN: Monday, August 17 – Friday, August 21, 2026 at 12:00-2:30pm ET each day
WHERE: Online via Zoom
By the end of the five-day training, participants will be able to:
- Apply principles of the community-based research approach to a research topic of their interest,
- Use appropriate strategies for engaging community partners in research,
- Formulate a research plan following the 4 phases of community-based research,
- Consider ethical issues that arise within community-based research projects,
- Construct plans for mobilizing knowledge and people towards action.
