On August 28, 2024, the FSC Community of Practice, in collaboration with Research Impact Canada and Immigrant Employment Council of BC, hosted a peer learning group on “Leveraging Newcomer Talent to Empower Canada’s Workforce.” This session focused on how organizations can support the integration of newcomers into the Canadian workforce and examined the impact on employment, skill requirements, and the broader economy. Participants were invited to share their experiences working in the workforce development sector, and the challenges and opportunities they saw for newcomer integration. Patrick MacKenzie, CEO of the Immigrant Employment Council of BC, led the primer presentation.
