2026 RIC Engaged Scholarship Award Winners

Research Impact Canada (RIC) is proud to announce this year’s 2026 Engaged Scholarship Award winners! These are four outstanding graduate scholars whose work exemplifies the spirit of engaged scholarship, collaborative research, and meaningful knowledge mobilization.

  • Amish Dua (Doctorate), University of Calgary – Wildlife Health and Ecology, Veterinary Medicine
    Project: “Traditions of the Tundra: Learning about caribou through Indigenous Knowledge”
  • Margaret Hughes (Doctorate), University of Calgary – Biological Sciences, Recent Doctoral Graduate in Ecology and Evolution
    Project: “Evaluating multi-species interactions to inform Indigenous-led caribou habitat restoration in fire-prone landscapes”
  • Emily Moore (Master’s), Western University – Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Neuroscience
    Project: “Identifying Early Cognitive Decline Across the Dementia Continuum Using a Remote Digital Screener”
  • Chibudo Joshua Nwabuisi (Master’s), Western University – Geography and Environment, Geography
    Project: “Traditional Root Crops and Climate Resilience: A Photovoice Exploration of Trememb (Brazil) and Igbo (Nigeria) Food Sovereignty through Traditional Food Festivals”
