CKF24 in Review: Highlights from the Canadian Knowledge Mobilization Forum 2024

The Canadian Knowledge Mobilization Forum (CKF) 2024, held in the vibrant city of Montreal from June 19-21, was a resounding success! This year’s event marked a return to in-person gatherings, bringing together over 175 attendees at the Grande Bibliothèque for three days of networking, learning, and collaboration.

A Biennial Gathering of Knowledge Mobilization Experts

The Forum is more than just a conference—it’s a community. Since its inception in 2012 by Peter Levesque, the Forum has grown into a biennial event that draws knowledge brokers, researchers, policymakers, community partners, and students from across sectors. The 2024 Forum continued this tradition, serving as a platform for sharing best practices, tools, and resources, all aimed at advancing the field of knowledge mobilization (KMb).

The theme for CKF24, “Building Capacity for Knowledge Mobilization and Research Impact,” resonated strongly throughout the event. Attendees participated in nearly 50 sessions that ranged from lightning talks to in-depth workshops and catalyst roundtables. These sessions offered diverse perspectives on KMb, highlighting the critical role of capacity building in achieving impactful research outcomes.

One of the standout features of CKF24 was its thoughtfully structured program. Each morning began with plenary sessions and lightning talks in the auditorium, setting the stage for deeper exploration in the afternoons through interactive workshops and roundtable discussions. This format, praised by many attendees, ensured a balance between learning and engagement, allowing participants to connect meaningfully with both the content and each other.

Celebrating Excellence in Knowledge Mobilization

A highlight of the Forum was the presentation of the inaugural Peter Levesque Award for Knowledge Mobilization Leadership. This award, named in honor of the Forum’s founder, recognized exceptional contributions to the field. Congratulations to the MobilizeU team and the Équipe Renard for their groundbreaking work in enhancing knowledge mobilization and making a lasting impact in their respective fields. As we reflect on the success of CKF24, we are already looking forward to the next Forum. The feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, and the insights gained will help shape future events. Whether you’re a seasoned knowledge mobilizer or new to the field, the Canadian Knowledge Mobilization Forum remains an invaluable space for learning, networking, and advancing the practice of KMb.

Thank you to everyone who attended, presented, and supported CKF24. We look forward to seeing you at the next Forum in 2026!
