Memorial University is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary, public, teaching/research university. It strives to have national and global impact, while fulfilling its social mandate to provide access to university education for the people of the province and to contribute to the social, cultural, scientific and economic development of Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) and beyond. Memorial has more than 19,000 students and nearly 4000 faculty and staff spread across four campuses and nearly 85,000 alumni active throughout the world. It also offers more than 100 degree program options, through facilities across the province, abroad and online. From local endeavors to research projects of national concern, Memorial’s impact is felt far and wide. The Leslie Harris Centre of Regional Policy and Development is Memorial’s lead for Research Impact Canada. Its main goals are to assist in the responsible development of the economy and society of NL, and stimulate informed discussion of important provincial issues. A key part of Memorial University, the Centre helps diverse groups and individuals connect with research resources, through teaching, research, and public engagement initiatives. The Harris Centre is also home to Yaffle, the innovative online engine designed to connect people inside and outside the university. Memorial and the Harris Centre are recognized for their rich record of engagement with community partners and research collaborators in the province, country, and around the world.
