Creating a Culture of Care: Addressing Mental Health in the Skills and Workforce Development Sector

In collaboration with Future Skills Centre, Research Impact Canada hosted their fourth webinar, Creating a Culture of Care: Addressing Mental Health in the Skills and Workforce Development Sector, as part of their Professional Development Toolbox Webinar Series. Our partner for this webinar was the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). Alexandra Petrisano, a National Workplace Mental Health Trainer, from CMHA spoke about mental health in this free webinar on May 1, 2023, at 12pm ET.

During the webinar, Alexandra highlighted helpful resources, which can be found in the mental health toolkit.

Some of the key takeaways from this webinar include:

  • Introduction to mental health – definitions and language
  • Recognizing and responding – Signs and symptoms and types of supports available
  • Taking care of yourself – Resiliency, healthy coping mechanisms, areas of self-care, and when to get support

The slide deck in the webinar can also be accessed.

This initiative is part of the Future Skills Centre’s Community of Practice, supported by the FSC Community of Practice Platform (powered by Magnet). The FSC Community of Practice offers free access to resources, news and events, as well as the opportunity to meet stakeholders across Canada who are preparing people across Canada for the future of work.
