MobilizeU Summer 2022

MobilizeU is a course designed for faculty researchers, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, staff, alumni, and community partners who are interested in learning more about Knowledge Mobilization (KMb).

Interested participants can apply to participate in the 8 week self-directed online course with optional weekly live sessions featuring a variety of guest speakers. Taught by leading KMb professionals and researchers, participants will learn about theoretical and practical aspects of effective KMb.

The course will take place between June 6 and July 29, 2022, using a private online platform and Zoom. Details are found below.

FAQ

Anyone interested in learning more about knowledge mobilization may apply to take the course but preference will be given to faculty, postdocs, staff, graduate students and alumni who have graduated in the last two years from a Research Impact Canada member organization.

Registration is limited to 15 participants per Research Impact Canada member organization. Applicants will be notified on Friday, May 27 if they have been admitted into the course. We will also create a wait list in case additional spaces become available.

The course will be free for Research Impact Canada member organization faculty, postdocs, staff, graduate students and alumni who have graduated in the last two years. $100– Community partners involved in research projects with Research Impact Canada member organizations OR Research Impact Canada member Alumni who graduated more than two years ago.  $300– All others.

The course will run from Monday, June 6 to Friday, July 29, 2022. Content for each week’s topic, including videos and resources, will be uploaded to the course online platform every Monday morning starting on June 6. Participants can watch the videos whenever it suits them best.

The recorded video will be complemented by a weekly live session which will happen every Thursday afternoon at 1:30-3:00 ET (UTC/GMT -4 hours) starting June 9. The live session will feature guest speakers who will address the weekly topic and give participants a chance to ask any questions they may have about the weekly topic. These sessions will also be recorded and made available to watch later.

The summer version of MobilizeU will be a self-directed online version of the course. Each week new videos and resources will be uploaded to a private online platform. Participants can watch the videos whenever they like. We will also be scheduling weekly live zoom meetings featuring guest speakers who will address the weekly topic and allow participants to ask any questions they may have.

The course will typically take up to 3.5 hours each week to complete. This would include time to watch the prerecorded videos, attend the weekly live session, review resources and complete the optional assignment.

Topics to be covered will include: Introduction to Knowledge Mobilization; Inclusive Knowledge Mobilization; Building Partnerships; KMb Planning: Tools and Templates; Research Communications; Knowledge Products for Dissemination and Impact and Evaluation.

Yes, participants who either attend 6 of the 8 weekly live sessions or who complete 6 short assignments based on the weekly topics are eligible to receive a course certificate.
