Knowledge mobilization at the University of Guelph builds on strong traditions of agricultural extension and community engagement to address diverse community, industry and government needs. Our programs focus on strengthening faculty and student engagement with end users, training researchers in knowledge mobilization, supporting the development and execution of knowledge mobilization strategies, and convening events, workshops and other initiatives to mobilize knowledge and broker relationships. The University of Guelph also offers the Certificate in Knowledge Mobilization, which supports a growing community of knowledge brokers across the world by offering online professional training in knowledge mobilization.
The University of Guelph is home to three knowledge mobilization hubs: The Community Engaged Scholarship Institute supports and carries out principled community engaged research in deep collaboration with community partners; Agri-Food and Rural Link is the hub for knowledge translation and transfer (KTT) for agri-food and rural research funded through the OMAFRA-UofG Agreement; and the Research Innovation Office supports collaboration and knowledge mobilization within the agri-food and biodiversity sectors across campus, and is supported in part by the University’s Canada First Research Excellence Fund “Food from Thought”.
