On June 15, join Research Impact Canada and connect with speakers from the Canadian Agricultural Human Resources Council, Young Agrarians, and AgriTech North to learn all about innovative programs, best practices, and strategies across Canada’s Agricultural Sector.

This event is hosted on behalf of the Future Skills Centre Community of Practice, supported by the FSC Community of Practice Platform (powered by Magnet). The FSC Community of Practice offers free access to resources, news and events, as well as the opportunity to meet community members who are preparing people across Canada for the future of work.

Meet the presenters:

Young Agrarians: Dana Penrice

Dana Penrice farms near Shoal Lake Manitoba with her partner and in-laws. She is the Prairies Program Manager for Young Agrarians and the lead for their Apprenticeship Program. Dana enjoys digging into the ecological, social and economic dynamics involved in transitioning agriculture towards regenerative practices and growing farms and farmers who are part of the solution to climate change. Dana is also the Managing Director of Holistic Management Canada where she is involved with the Ecological Outcome Verification program. In her spare time Dana can be found helping out on the farm, moving the cattle or more likely with her chickens.

AgriTech North: Benjamin Feagin Jr.

Benjamin Feagin Jr. is the Métis CEO and founder of AgriTech North, a first-of-kind year-round grower in Northwestern Ontario which produces over 80+ crops in a Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) vertical farm. Benjamin has a M.Sc. in Urban Ecology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York, USA. and previously worked with the U.S. Department of Energy National laboratories, conducting and overseeing energy and urban ecology projects, providing capabilities in apparatus inventions, infrastructure validations, public and industry adoption planning, and federal-grade research.

Phyllis MacCallum - CAHRC

Phyllis MacCallum is the AgriLMI Program Manager at the Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council (CAHRC). Phyllis manages all activities and initiatives related to the National Workforce Strategy and Agri Diversity program.
