As part of the Future Skills Centre’s Community of Practice (CoP), Research Impact Canada is piloting a series of Peer Learning Groups to foster open discussion and knowledge sharing among skills and workforce development stakeholders across Canada. The first session in this three-part pilot series took place on July 28, 2022, with a focus on influencing public policy and connecting with policymakers.
Participants from diverse sectors and industries joined this virtual event to exchange insights on overcoming silos, building relationships with policymakers, and addressing funding challenges in policy work. Key topics of discussion included:
- Breaking down silos: How organizations can improve collaboration across different sectors to drive policy change.
- Connecting with policymakers: Strategies for engaging policymakers at various levels to influence meaningful change.
- Addressing funding challenges: Practical approaches for securing funding and resources to sustain policy advocacy efforts.
The discussion provided a rich exchange of ideas, best practices, and resources aimed at helping organizations strengthen their policy influence and improve their impact.
