On November 18, 2025, Research Impact Canada hosted an interactive webinar on “Navigating Narrative CVs in Canada: Preparing for the Transition.” The audience was invited to collaboratively discuss and work through the opportunities and challenges of this significant shift in the research assessment and application process.
Presenters Dr. Raad Fadaak (University of Calgary) and Dr. Eli Friedland (Concordia University) began the session by outlining key considerations related to narrative CVs, followed by approaches to building researchers’ narrative CV capacity, how to think about narrative CVs alongside EDI plans, and how to best support and prepare for these assessment changes.
As the Canadian research ecosystem adopts new assessment and application formats, researchers are navigating new ways to articulate their research quality and impact. The “Ask Me Anything”-style event was an opportunity for participants to bring their most pressing questions and concerns to the forefront.
Thank you to the presenters for facilitating this amazing discussion, the participants who attended the webinar, and the RIC Professional Development committee for organizing this session!
